The Broadmoor Area – Southwest Colorado Springs
When you think of the most luxurious, historic, and beautiful five-star hotels with three championship golf courses coupled with Colorado Spring’s priciest communities – you think The Broadmoor. Broadmoor real estate located in the southwest area of Colorado Springs is one of a kind. Luxury living, tall trees, multi-million dollar mansions, gated resort communities, larger lots, privacy and the natural beauty of Cheyenne Mountain and Cheyenne Canon make it a magnificent place to live. Whether you choose to live in the Broadmoor Brownstones, the Broadmoor Resort Community, or one of the many Broadmoor Estate homes, townhomes, or patio homes, you are living in an elite area of Colorado Springs. The historic timeline and little known facts of The Broadmoor is a must hear. In 1916 Spencer and Julie Penrose purchased the 40 acre Broadmoor Hotel and Casino site and an additional 450 acres for $90,000. Their goal was to build a beautiful resort which emulated the hotels and resorts they visited in Europe and the Orient. Spencer Penrose among many other things was responsible for the construction of Cheyenne Zoo in 1926 (he was an avid animal collector), as well as the opening of the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun in 1938 which chimes you can hear resonant throughout the Broadmoor and Cheyenne Canon area.
Interested in Old Broadmoor real estate? The Old Broadmoor area is located along both sides of beautiful tree-lined Lake Avenue which ends at The Broadmoor Hotel. The Old Broadmoor is popular for its 1940s – 1970s mostly ranch style built homes and large level lots, as well as older early 1900s homes full of history and charm, all still within strolling distance of The Broadmoor Hotel.
The area adjacent and to the south of the Broadmoor community is home to neighborhoods including Broadmoor Bluffs, Broadmoor Spires, Broadmoor Heights, Broadmoor Valley, and Broadmoor Oaks. These communities are located along the base of Cheyenne Mountain from just north of Norad Road at Cheyenne Mountain to just south of the prestigious Broadmoor area and Old Broadmoor neighborhood. Most of the homes located in these neighborhoods were built in the 1980’s to present new construction. Real Estate in this area has a variety of styles, price ranges, and views. This area is popular for its natural and peaceful mountain setting, well maintained landscaping and curb appeal of homes, and location to parks, trails, shopping and restaurants.
